HAIR DIARIES: MOTIONS NATURAL TEXTURED HEAT STYLED PRODUCTS REVIEW
When I was wearing my hair alas Toni Braxton back in the 90’s, I was introduced to Motions through an old hairstylist. She would relax my hair with Motions and give me a deep conditioner with their Moisture Plus.
I immediately feel in love with their conditioner and continued to use it when I wasn’t using Motions relaxer anymore. For the price, you got major moisture for your hair. So when Motions PR contacted me and introduced me to their new Naturally New line, I was eager to try it. Formulated for natural hair textures, Motions six piece line, is ideal for hydrating, strengthening, and softening all natural hair without losing the integrity of the natural curl pattern of natural hair.
Now, to caveat this, I am relaxed. I don’t use relaxer often as I like to extend my relaxer for at least three months or more. I am currently using Phytospecific as my relaxer, which I love. At some point, I will be making a transition from a relaxer to a natural style. With that said, I thought the Motions Naturally New line would be a great to use to help me extend the life of my relaxer because it contains Keratin. Turns out, I was right.
My last relaxer (touch up) was in March and we are well into June now and I finally used the new Motions Naturally New Straight Finish Cleanser. The shampoo doesn’t look like your typical shampoo. Usually shampoos, that I know of, are pearlized and this one was creamy with a thick consistency. It contains hair healthy ingredients Keratin Protein, Shea Butter, and Soy Bean Oil.
When I say that a little really does go a long way, I mean it. When this shampoo suds, it suds!! I washed my hair twice and I loved that my hair felt soft and was full of moisture and the new growth was easy to comb through without getting tangled.
After washing my hair, I applied the Motions Natural Textures Heat Styled Straight Finish Leave-In Conditioner. This conditioner contains a cocktail of Keratin Protein and Coconut and Argan oils and provides the hair another layer of moisture and protection as you comb through wet hair to detangle and prep for blow drying. I did like how this left my hair smooth and soft.
As a way to protect my hair from the heat styling of a flat iron, I pumped two drops of the Motions Heat Styled Straight Finish Sealer to my hair while I flat ironed it. This lightweight hair gloss contains Keratin Protein, Argan and Almond oils. I love how this styling gloss gave my hair major shine without weighing it down. I did like the fact that my hair didn’t get frizzy or limp under the heavy humidity we’ve just experience in the D.C. area this weekend.
Overall, this is a good line of hair care products and I think any hair type, natural or relaxed, can find a product or two that they can incorporate into their hair care routine.
